The Fun Celebration Of National Day

Today,in the morning,my whole school and I,went celebrating National Day of Singapore,although it is not the real day.It was very fun and I had a great day.The real day is tommorow.This was how it all started...

7.08 am-I reached school.I walked to the bench outside our school library.I saw many of my classmates gathering there,elated and eager to start the concert.And there stood one of my classmates' mother,and ma'am.The parent was helping my classmates to paint...on their faces!Some of them chose to have strokes,while some of them chose to have "I LOVE SINGAPORE".And...Guess what?I chose to have strokes.I was eager to start the concert,at the parade square,too.

7.25 am-The whole school gathered at the parade square and the concert started off.It started off with the recollections by one of our school teachers-Mr Yeo.Soon,we began to sing one of our Singapore's National Day Song,My Island Home.I like this song very much as its tune is very nice.We were given the lyrics the day before.I brought it there and took it out to sing with the whole school.Minutes passed by and we had the wishings of "Happy National Day" from the Minister Of Education.

8.10 am-Wee!We went to fetch and welcome the Guest-Of-Honour,the teachers and pupils from Rainbow Centre,as we were chosen to be the class to celebrate and share our joy with them. Then we went up to the hall to watch the concert.It was interestingly fun.We gave each of them a Singapore flag and sang the songs with them.We cheered loudly,as loud as we could.

10 am-We were dismissed by our Discipline Master,Mr Tan.And all of us had a great time.And lastly...Home Sweet Home(That's the end!).

The National Geographic Magazine

Just now, ma'am gave us the National Geographic magazine.There are many stories and interesting facts in it.The story of the cover page is National Geographic:Maui's Monster Waves Jaws.There are still many other stories in it,such as:America's Wilderness and the Cossacks.They are also quite good,but the story on the cover page is the one I like the most.I like this story because it is very interesting.I gained a lot of knowledge about "monster waves".Now,I am going to tell you about it.

Imagine skiing down the front of a five-storey building.That's Laird Hamilton's idea of fun,plunging some 50 vertical feet on a wave face that only a handful of surfers dare ride.The strength of such waves has earned this Hawaiian surfing spot its Jaws.Those who know it best fear it most.Says Hamilton:"Some say 'no fear'.I say 'bull'.I absolutely fear it.That's why I surf it."When you fly down the face of one of these waves,it's not a wave anymore,it's a mountain.This mountain can move at 25 miles an hour and give a windsurfer the ride of his life,or leave him fighting for it.On a big-wave day,Jaws kicks up about 12 times a year.

Local surfers also call Jaws by its native name,Peahi,Hawaiian for"beckon".And this is the most interesting part.-Jaws generates a breaking wave only when ocean swells reach a certain size.From the underwater ridge,the remnant of an old lava flow,juts straight out to sea.A little over half a mile from shore the reef drops abruptly away into the sea.An average swell of 10 to 12 feet passes over the nub of the reef without incident.But larger swells,storm spawned,suddenly mound upward as they striked the reef,a process called shoaling.

Jaws have a second wave-rearing trick.The swells on either side of the reef,moving in deeper water,bend inward,focusing much of their energy on the center of the wave crest.This refraction of wave energy is like a magnifying glass gathering light into a hot,focused beam.In essence, the reef squeezes the wave inward and upward.Surfers call it a peaking wave.

To tow each other into the big waves at Jaws,surfers use Wave Runners.To keep from getting knocked off their boards,they use windsurfers' foot straps.Purists howl,claiming that the only right way to surf is to paddle into a wave and stay on your board using just your own strength.

Overall,I like this story and the National Geographic magazine.I would like to thank ma'am for lending this magazine to me,and my classmates.

About The SA1 Exam

Now,I am going to let you know about the exam I had.It was SA1 exam,of course,now the exams are over.And now the June holidays are coming.But now I am only to tell you about the SA1 exam.There were six papers in total for each of us to do.The first paper was the English paper,it was quite tough,the most difficult part was the comprehension open-ended.Okay,the English paper was set by ma'am,our form teacher.

A few days later,the whole class,including me,knew the results of the English paper.I was saddened by it.I got 80 marks!The moment I reached home,my mother asked for my English paper's result.She started to show me a dirty look and later,shebanged the table."How dare you tell me your atrocious marks?!Are you not afraid that I will skin you alive?!I am going to do it now!"She punished me for twenty minutes and told me to take my bath.

Okay,lets not waste our time.I am just going to tell you my marks.For my Mathematics,I got 92 in total.For my Science,I got 82 in total.For my Mother Tongue,I have not know the marks.Okay,that's all.

Caterpillar

The caterpillar which ma'am put in our classroom was missing suddenly!I was very sad.The lime butterfly was so cute!But one day,I saw the fully-grown butterfly on the wall.I jumped for joy.That day, when we went back to school,the butterfly was missing again."This was a mystery for me,"I thought.Since that day,the lime butterfly did not come back again.I shook my head.But when ma'am told us that she would be buying a butterfly again,I smiled.I really hoped that ma'am would buy a butterfly again.I would like to thank ma'am for buying another butterfly again.I am looking forward for the arrival of the butterfly.

Scrabble

Some of my classmates and I had played "Scrabble".It was a very fun game.Few days ago,we had played a friendly Scrabble match of competition.Ma'am chose me as the team leader.My team members and I played with our opponents from Mayflower Primary School.Although all of us lost,we had made friends and learnt many new things and words used in Scrabble.We were not disappointed at all.Another point of Scrabble was the day that the whole class and I went down to our school canteen with ma'am.Some of my classmates had took some of the refreshments to get the other pupils'attention to come to let us to teach them and play Scrabble.Ma'am chose five of us,including me,to give out the refreshments and snacks to the pupils.Almost all of the pupils from each level came to let us teach them.We enjoyed ourselves there.We went there for two hours.I would like to thank ma'am for leading us into the fun.

The English Carnival

We had the "English week"in school during the last five school days.It was known as "the English week"or"the English Carnival".It was very fun and interesting because all the games were those which I liked.We had "Stretch and Throw"and many other games.I liked "Stretch and Throw" the most because it was a game about "throwing".This was how we must play:First,take a ball from a basket.Second,throw the ball into one of the baskets which were on the chairs.Fourth,if your ball goes into one of the baskets,you must proceed to the "answering"part.Answer the question given to you.(But take note that there is no sweet or any other prizes for you!)It was just an "answer game".Of course,those questions were about English.My classmates,whom were all girls and I went to play the "Guess and Find"game.It was very interesting too,but I prefer the"Stretch and Throw"to this "Guess and Find".This was how to play the"Guess and Find":First,an "e-parent"from our school will give us a question about English.We will need to raise our hands to answer.Of course,the"e-parent"will choose one of the students.Second,After the"e-parent" has called one of the students,the student will have to answer the question.If he or she answers the question correctly,he or she will need to find the word which he or she uses to answer the question in a crossword puzzle.Third,if he or she finds the word hidden in the crossword puzzle,he or she will get a sweet.That was how we played.Although I did not get a sweet,I was not sad or disappeared.It was worth playing.My classmates and I had enjoyed ourselves.I would like to thank the "e-parents"and teachers who had prepared these fun games.I am looking forward to have another English Carnival.

The Oral Practice which ma'am Gave Us

Few days ago,ma'am gave us oral practices.She also gave us the "oral notes".The notes were very important to us because if we read them,our oral would get better.The marks we would get would be also high.I felt that the notes were very worth and precious.They were just like gold to me.Many people know that most Singaporeans speak"singlish".We must not speak"singlish".First,we practised our "pronounciation".Pronounciations are very important to us,because when we pronounce the words wrongly,even one short word,the marks would get"pulled down",so we must pronounce words clearly.This will make people understand what are we talking about.Second,we practised the"tongue twisters".Actually,it is not that by reading tongue twisters will make your tongue twist.It is actually that that words in the tongue twisters is sometimes quite alike as the other words in pronounciation.It is quite easy to read the tongue twisters.They are fun and interesting.Third,we practised our intonation.pace and volume by reading passages.Sometimes,we need to read the words in "highs"and"lows".We also need to stop a while when reading.This is called phrasing.Lastly,fourth,when we are telling stories,we need to read informally,which means we can read them in "highs"and"lows".But when we are reading an important news report,we need to read it formally,which means we must not read in"highs"and"lows".We must read it in just a little bit of "highs"and"lows".I can remember that some of my classmates went to perform the "singlish" and the wrong pronounciations.It was very funny and all of us laughed.I would like to thank ma'am for giving us the oral practices to train ourselves.I would also like to thank some of my classmates for bringing us the joy and laughter by performing on the school stage.

Trip to the Science Centre

Yesterday,all the classes of Primary 4 went to the Science Centre,including me.It was very fun and interesting because there were many fun things,such as the DNA part.First, we went to a lecture room.We learnt about how ultraviolet rays work,help and where do they come from.The lecture room was filled with many things which were related to Science.Mr Yeong,the Science lecturer,talked to us about "light",the chapter which ma'am is teaching us now.I liked the chapter"light" because it tells us about rays and many things.Mr Yeong also told us about the "infra-red",how does light travel and in what way can light help us,the human beings and plants.An infra-red is a source of light that cannot be seen humans.Second,Mr Yeong lead us to the "animal life"part.There were small chicks popping out from their shells.They were all very cute!I hoped that I could bring them back to my house and raise them up.Next,something made me ran vigorously.Eek!They were the cockroaches!Some of them were moulting,which means that they were "tearing"their old skin!I walked to the mealworms which were in a container.One of them was casing an egg case.Third,some of my classmates and I walked to the "frog's croaking machine".I made a frog croak and recorded it.Ma'am called us and we went back to our school.Wee!

Olympic

Today in the morning,we should have the sports carnival,but it was raining heavily,so we did not have the sports carnival.Too bad,but we had quite a fun time in the hall.We danced happily.It was quite fun.The sports carnival will be more fun than I think.I hope that we can play and participate in the sports carnival.Getting eager,I really want to have the sports carnival now.I love sports.Sporting is good for our body.But at least we had the dance in the hall.Yesterday at night,when I went to bed,I glared at the ceiling,thinking that how much fun I will be having.When it rained,my heart sank.We could not have the sports carnival.I sighed many times,feeling very sad and disappointed.After much thinking,I felt fine again.There's nothing sad about it.I thought to myself,come on cheer up,at least we had the dance right?I sweated when I danced.That was quite fun and good,but I sweated like I had just bathed.I hate sweating as it makes me wet.Actually,sweating is good for our body.It was Miss Loo,my physical education teacher,who lead us to the dance.I would like to thank her for letting us to sweat and enjoy ourselves.

Fractions

My new Mathematics teacher,Miss Leng,taught us about fractions.It was very interesting and fun.We learnt about mixed fractions, improper fractions and proper fractions.I found that it was very easy to understand.Miss Leng taught us with patience and I was willing to listen to her lesson.She taught us that what are improper and proper fractions,how to change from improper to proper fractions,how to change from proper to improper fractions, why sometimes the number of numerator is greater than the number of denominator and what is mixed numbers.Fractions is quite easy,isn't it?I would like to learn more about fractions and thank Miss Leng for teaching us patiently.

Charlotte's Web

I had read the book"Charlotte's Web".I loved this book because it was very interesting.Now,I am going to tell you about this story.It was about an eight years old girl who named Fern.She stopped her father from killing a small and tiny runt.Her father agreed not to kill the runt and he allowed Fern to keep the pig,but she needed to feed it.Fern was very happy.She then named the pig"Wilbur"and fed it with a bottle filled with milk and took care of it everyday after coming back from school.Fern took care of it until it grew up.Then one day,her father,Mister Arable,decided to sell it to Fern's uncle,Mister Zuckerman.Wilbur then lived in a smelly and dirty pigpen.Fern visited Wilbur everyday,but later for a long time,she did not visit it.Wilbur grew lonely and heard a little grey spider calling...I think Fern because she was a kind and animal-loving person.We must be like her.

Light

Two days ago,I learnt about the chapter of light.I found it interesting and easy to understand.I have learnt about the information of the light.These were some of the things I have learnt;A light source is something that gives out light,there are man-made and natural sources,shadows are formed when a light source shine on an object onto a surface and many other things.I would like to learn more about light.Ma'am gave my classmates and I many Science notes.I read them on alternate days and that will improve my Science.I hope that ma'am will give us more Science notes and be Science experts.I would like to thank ma'am for giving us so many Science notes to improve our Science.Every chapter of Science is interesting and fun!

The problem sum question that my group and I done

Yesterday,my group and I were doing a problem sum that was very easy.Luckily,we had done that question in time.We worked it out in ten minutes.We did cooperated with one another but we had a small argument.Some of us did not want to write or draw,while some of us heated an argument as we wanted to write and draw.Some of the other groups had done well but some did not.Some of them did wrong of their carelessness.This tells us to be cooperative with one another.At the end,ma'am gave us a packet of "mamee".The "mamee"was very nice and I would like to thank ma'am.

The anti-drug pledge

I pledged to be an anti-drug ambassador as glue-sniffing and drug-taking will harm our body.If we sniff glue,there will be chemicals in our body and lead us to end our life.Not just that we will have chemicals in our body,we will also mumble to ourselves and make us blur.This is not good as we might do some things that are bad in our blur mind.I promised not to take drugs and sniff glue and lead a good life.

My favourite class cheer

Now,I am going to tell you about my favourite cheer.My favourite cheer is"Everywhere we go".It goes like this,"Everywhere we go,people want to know,who we are,where we come from,so we tell them,we are from 4Care,high and mighty 4Care,strong and rugged 4Care,best in QtPS,Say4-4,C-C,a-a,r-r,e-e,what's that?-4Care!One more time!-4Care!Who's the best?-4Care!"I liked this cheer because it is very fun and interesting.We,the whole class,sings this cheer every Wednesday.Some of us do funny actions and some of us do ugly emotions.We have much fun whenever we sing this cheer.

A visit to Chinatown

I had a fun trip to Chinatown with my classmates the past few days.Our school tour guide,Mrs Lum,went with us.She guided us for the whole trip.It was really very fun.I went to Chinatown as it was compulsory and it was a NE trip.I love Ne trips as I could learn new things.Now Chinatown is very crowded as Chinese New Year is coming.Many people sold Chinese New Year goods and decorations.I saw someone selling Taiwan food and snacks.

My classmates and I went to the Thian Hock Keng Temple,Alabra Shirne Mosque,a museum at and Telok Ayer Street Sri Marianman Temple which was at the Pagoda Street.Mrs Lum explained to us what the temples are about and many things.We went to the Sago Lane which was famous for its"Death Houses".I liked the place "Pagoda Street"as it was the best.It was very beautiful. Mrs Lum said that we could not step on the high block on the floor as its spirit would find us.

We stopped at the half of the street. Some of my classmates and I bought some sweets.It was quite expensive.It was one hundred grams for one dollar.I bought some sweets that were mixed for one dollar.I ate my sweets while I was walking along the street.

I had learnt when the temples were built and the histories.My classmates and I were very excited and happy.We went back by our school bus and arrived at school at five in the late afternoon.I am looking forward to go to another NE trip.

About Maths Buddy

I am a Maths Buddy and I must teach the Primary 2 pupils Maths.They are quite poor in Maths and they need my help.My buddy's name is Ian Tan.Sometimes,when I explain something related to Maths to him,he would nod his head.But the thing that I need more is patience,is that when I tell him to do some activities that I gave him,he would shake his head and he would tell me that he does not know how to do the sums.This did not make me angry but it tells me to be patient to him.I felt that this is very important as I can improve his Maths and I learnt that I need more patient in doing things.Being a Maths Buddy is not so bad after all.

If you could only choose one of your 5 senses,what will it be?Why?

If I were to choose,I will choose the eyes,as the eyes will enable me to look and see the surroundings.Eyes are very useful to man and animals as they can help us to enjoy the places where we go.They can also help us to realise where we are.I think that eyes are very important to us.

About My Favourite Story In Reader's Digest...

I am now going to tell you about my favourite story in the best book " Reader's Digest".The title is "Against the Odds"Part:Money Makers.A person called "Ron Meyer".When Ron was 14 years old,his friend gave him his first tattoo.A crude desing done with ink and a needle.Like many of the guys he hung out with in Los Angeles,Meyer was a secondary school dropout,a kid quick with his fists who seemed to get into fights somewhat regularly.

Today,Meyer is the president and chief operating officer of Universal Studios.As one of the most successful business leaders in Hollywood,he heads up Universal Pictures and Universal Parks & Resorts.He's the guy who overseas the production of multi-million-dollar extravaganzas like King Kong and Cinderella Man.

Even though Meyer could easily afford it,he has no interest in getting his tattoos removed.

They symbolise just how far he has come,and they remind him of the choices he made.Good and bad along the way.

Meyer's story sounds like the plot of one of his motion pictures.The son of German immigrants,he grew up in a modest home where there was little disposable income.It was a big deal to go to a restaurant.

At 15,he quit secondary school and spent his time shooting pool,boxing at a nearby gym and hanging out with the neighbourhood toughs.With little education or direction and few options,he figured he will be drafted to fight in Vietnam.So when he heard about a boxing programme in the Marine Corps,he signed up.

At one point,he was quarantined with the measles,with no television and nothing to do.His mother sent him two books.One was "The Amboy Dukes",a novel about kids in street gangs.The other one was"The Flesh Peddlers",now out of print,about a guy in the talent-agency buisiness who was living a glamourous life."I realised,"he says,"that I was no longer that idiot kid I had been,and I wanted to change my life."

Meyer finally had a goal:to become an agent and live the sort of lifestyle described in "The Flesh Peddlers".He says he must have had job interviews at all of the major talent-agencies."Everyone said no to me.I did not have a formal education.I came from no influence,no money.There was no obvious reason to give me a job."But after that,someoneaccepted him. He then worked hard and succeeded.
